Standing Behind the SteelApril 2012: Yellow Pencil has been proudly working alongside the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel netball team since the ANZ Championship burst onto the international sport scene in 2008. The team opened their 2012 campaign on April 2nd this year with a sensational win over the Waikato/ Bay of Plenty Magic in Invercargill. As well as our excitement about the team's outstanding performance, imagine how proud we were watching the Steel's Courtney Tairi carrying the Yellow Pencil brand into action amongst some of the world's top netballers. | ![]() Click image to enlarge |
February 2011: Since the previous devastation of the earthquake that struck our region on September 4th 2010, Christchurch and Canterbury has lived with the anxiety that last year's event was a precursor to something much worse. The 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck our city at 12.51pm local time on Tuesday February 22nd 2011 made those fears a reality.
Physically, the earthquake was selective - but emotionally, no one was spared.
The devastation and tragic loss of life Christchurch has suffered has changed our city and the way we live will be forever influenced and shaped by this single event.
While a considerable amount of damage was caused to some parts of our city's regional infrastructure, others escaped relatively unscathed. Fortunately, our location to the West of the CBD meant business at Yellow Pencil returned to its usual frenetic pace a few days after the event with a number of our inner city clients frantically relocating and planning a way forward. We are pleased to say that while all of our clients were impacted in some way by the quake, all escaped without physical harm and are each determined to play a positive part in the rebuilding of our community and our broken city - as are we.
